Top 10 Advisor Influence Tactics for 2024

Reflecting on advisors who launched and grew their influence this past year. What moves did they make?

Here’s my top-10 list. These are the tactics I recommend carrying with you into 2024 and beyond:

1. Claim your brilliance: Define your purpose, know your audience, and serve them wholeheartedly.

2. Connect with your ideal audience and make sure they know you will do anything to help them be successful within the scope of your brilliance.

3. Stop curating other people’s thought leadership and ideas. Create your own thought leadership, and share your unique perspective.

4. Give yourself credit for your expertise and experience. And claim the media with which you’re going to package your knowledge and share it with your audience.

5. Strategically create content that answers important questions for a niche audience. Integrate that content into your marketing and sales approach.

6. Stop judging every marketing tactic by its direct correlation with revenue. If a marketing tactic adds value to expanding awareness, building trust, and creating new relationships, then it likely has an important place in your marketing strategy.

7. Build your list. Prioritize email ownership, as having someone's email is owning the prospect relationship.

8. To establish authority and business success, shift your mindset – invest over 10% of revenue annually in marketing for long-term momentum.

9. One of the most efficient and effective ways to grow your marketing is to find synergies where 1+1= 3. If you can find enough of these, you can save money and have greater outcomes.

10. Own your own marketing system. Invest in building *your* system – and marketing equity – rather than renting from marketing experts who own it & lease it to you.

So there you have it — my Top 10 Influence-Accelerating Tactics of 2023. Which one stands out to you the most?

Bonus:

11. Don’t approach marketing like a perfectionist. Approach marketing like a pragmatist. Focus on how much value you can add rather than how perfectly you can package it.
