Navigating the Challenges of Imposter Syndrome

Do you wonder if you’re really qualified to be advising people what to do with their money? More than 80% of people face imposter syndrome, and I would venture that number is even higher among financial advisors! So how do you handle secretly feeling totally inadequate to tell people how to handle their complex financial situations?

  • Recognize you’re not alone. Most people deal with feeling like this.
  • Talk with someone who has been in the business longer than you. Ask them how they have dealt with these feelings, especially as they progressed in their career and had clients with increasingly complex situations.
  • Most importantly, keep perspective. Life will still be OK no matter how one particular meeting goes.
